Mucking about bouncing over sandbanks in short steep breaking seas knowing the boat will get pounded to matchwood in seconds if it runs out of water altogether doesn't sound to be much fun.

Then there is that 4 week old fourty footer that lost it's keel over christmas.

I take it that someone who likes to play it reasonably safe can sail round there and get from one river to another without too big an adrenalin rush.

Its not like that anymore, that was back in the old days. Big improvements to the swatchways now. We filter the water, and have painted the bottom blue so it looks like the carib. We also dredged it out to stop scaredy people going bump, which means there is no more steep chop. We also installed free mooring posts everywhere so you can stop where you like now, and we really improved the signage with proper directions rather than those stupid round buoy things. Best thing of all was the tourist board handing out free beer and ice cream vouchers to all visitors. Its like paradise, with lesbians too.

It's nice that the facilities have been improved, I may just make an effort now.

I "found" "keep turning left" over christmas and really enjoyed Dylan's videos, it looks to be a good spot to sail, and well presented by someone who obviously loves the area.
Kudu's antics were good to watch too.

I was sold on NewEastCoast(tm) before I got to the last sentence, but lesbians (no doubt frolicking in mud) really has sealed the deal. A one way ticket to Hullbridge for me.

The cash should be flooding in, I've bought yet another book and a Tom & Jerry collectors DVD set for the admiral.

Up near the top of my list would be one of the Jonathon Raban's - prob his round Britain one. Spurred me into trying to dig it out again. Also quite attached to Down Channel by McMullen but not to his man management style. One of the Moitessiers; Sailing to the Reefs praps. I liked the yarn by the builder and skipper of Erik the Red (forgotten name); built from second hand floorboards and junk rig. Hard to keep the list down to 5 - bit like your Desert Island Discs. Dunno about reading about sailing while on board tho. I'll certainly have one of the Stieg Larsson thrillers and the collection of Chic Murray gags on the boat.

I don't know, I havent seen them, the feedback I have had so far is that they are a great sucess and Fred Quimby features large.

My dad had a tape in a VHS that got knicked, all recorded of telly and irreplacable he thought.

I looked on Amazon and the feedback was poor, racist/violent bits removed so that the originals were adulterated, but I got them anyway.

I'm waiting for the Admiral to watch them then I can review them, just for research you understand.

Well according to The Internet Surname Database "this is a locational English surname which originates from a village called Quenby in the county of Leicestershire."
