Jessica 700 miles from the Horn

Post by Nick »

.
Jessica Watson is nearly half way through her circumnavigation and just 700 miles from Cape Horn. I really hope she confounds her early critics and makes it. It won't just be the youngest solo non-stop, she will have done it in an old boat similar to those many of us sail.

There is an RSS feed to Jessica's blog on the home page of BlueMoment.

Amazing. Seems to be really quick to me as well. How long did Knox-Johnston take?

Mind you, I bet she can't knock back the whisky that RKJ/Alec Rose/Chichester could.

Hope it all goes well for her, and I suspect it will. (Touching wood.)

I just watched a re-run of RKJ, Simpson & Fiennes with Skip Novak on the original Pelagic "doing Cape Horn". Brilliant programme, it ended up so calm that they landed & visited the lighthouse. The shots of them sat there on the verandah looking out to sea with big cigars & swigging from a bottle of rum were superb. I wish Jessica similar luck.
