I have a friend

Post by claymore »

Whose long suffering wife is about to join the ranks of retired gentlefolk.
My Friend is anxious that his wings are about to be clipped having noticed a considerable amount of literature arriving in the post offering 2 for 1 visits to a series of National Trust properties and other attractions.
Whilst my friend is not an uncharitable person, he is concerned that even though retired, there is only so much time and he has become accustomed to frequent visits, almost unchecked to his boat over the past year or two.
How might we best help this friend and advise him in order that he does not become a stranger to passing winds?
Regards

All I can suggest is that your friend takes up these cultural opportunities that are presented by this strategy with great enthusiasm to the extent of making a complete nusance of himself.

If I can relate my own experience in this matter. Soon after I retired, I entered into the spirit of my own Dear Heart's life with great gusto. It soon became apparent to her that she was much better organised in the days when I was out there earning a measily crust.

"When you were at work, I had a routine and could get things done, but now . . . . "

"Easily solved", says I, and proceded off to Peterhead . . . .

I hope this saga (No pun intended!) helps your friend over his difficulties.

Regards
Jim

well. we could probably have a wee collection and buy him a few tins of beans to start with .......

the only other advice i can proffer is the old adage " start as you mean to continue ".

My friend is adept at making a nuisance of himself so that will not prove difficult - however, for the first time in his life I believe he is about to experience at first hand the michty determination within the mither o his bairns. Passing Wind was but a reference to his boat and not to his personal habits. He has little difficulty in that region and indeed has won the Chents Cruise all comers fairting competition in perpetuity. Such was his performance on one occasion that TCM lost his deposit on the charter yacht and it took 5 of Albas finest to defumigate the port side aft cabin.

I am reliably assured that the dropping of kecks more than three times while visting the busier National Trust sites is singularly frowned upon, and may, nay, shall, lead to lifetime banishment.

Do you have a suitable photograph with which you might be able to illustrate this possible remedy?
