Driving along our wonderful motorways through sections where roadworks are in progress, I have for a long tiome now been impressed by the sequential flashing lights attached to traffic cones which help give you and impression of the shape of the corridor you are being directed into. Of course this has been around on the continent for a while now but have just had a conversation with our Head of Maritime Studies who informs me that the GPS units attached to navigation buoys can tell the authorities whether the mark has moved but they are now working on setting a timer to them so that the lights will flash in sequence along channels and thus give us an impression of the shape of the channel we are navigating.
Wonderful idea.

Re: Amazing Technology
But how do they do that?
This new technology will come in at a price though. Will we be still be exempt from paying light dues I wonder. It's only a matter of time in my opinion.

Don't youse come on here with your YBW language- activity based pricing indeed. I'll tell you this - if we applied activity based pricing to the fekkers propping up their shovels on the M6 we'd not be paying much.
