First few days were fine weather then it went downhill a bit.
Got to Loch Moidart (stunning) then Eigg where we climbed the Sgurr under blue skies and could see ooh everything. Then Loch Boisdale on S Uist (bit grey and disappointing), then Tarbert on Harris (nice). Weather became colder and windy and we made Portree on east coast of Skye - lovely place bit like a mini-Tobermory, where we bumped into Sahona (again). Wild night of drunken mayhem, then set off the following day and two hours later ended up in - Portree. Wind had varied between 6 knots and 46 knots, and from several different directions, and we had hangovers. Quiter night, then through the Kyle of Lochalsh to Mallaig where we didn't get stoned and a long motor on the last day as the weather improved to get back to Balvicar.
Great trip - what about the photos? Left my camera behind....doh. Another time.

I read somewhere that Mallaig is not particularly yot-friendly. Still the case?

I phoned the Harbourmaster the morning we departed and he was as helpful as could be. We arrived at about 8 pm and he was on the end of the mobile to direct us to raft a fishing boat in the inner harbour. Couldn't have been nicer

It's a working harbour with a lot of fishing boats, plus small ferries and tour boats doing their stuff, so it can be a bit tight. AFAIR, like ljs, the harbour people were very helpful. We've been in, twice (I think), but only once for more than an hour or so. On that occasion it was very busy and we had to tie up in an area that dries out. Not used to drying out so didn't particularly enjoy having the boat leaning against the pier - we ended up at a funny angle and I spent half the night checking lines....
