I had mixed feelings about YM's Scottish feature. It's nice to see areas that you know and like getting the praise they deserve, but will it encourage too many more to come? The article seemed to imply that you'll hardly see another boat, and I suppose that it is quiet relative to South of England, but Puildobhraoin is full most summer weekends as it is...

Me too. However IME the majority of southern sailors that I know don't like to anchor or go even one night without a shower and a meal out, and think a F5 is a reason not to go sailing that day. Fair play to them but it makes a sailing holiday in Scotland or even moving your boat up North unlikely.

Agree about Puildobhraoin. I went there once on a Friday in early April. 5 boats in! God knows what it's like in Summer.

Interesting comment as, on YBW, there's a strong view being expressed that being at anchor two boat lengths apart is highly reprehensible and dangerous. Personally, I don't think it is desirable, but it must be par for the course in Puilldobhrain or Tinker's Hole in July or August.

Newtown Creek, is easily that crowded. Mind you I was overnight there in Feb and we were one of only two boats.

PS I never use marinas, I always anchor. And what's a "shower"

They have great showers in Sccotland, it's what you get when it's not actually raining.

And Tinkers Hole looks like a must (as long as it isn't a popular anchorage?)

Been there twice in April and had it to myself both times. I suspect it may busier in summer being an easy day sail from many civilised places.
