The Admiral and his lady (Aquaplane's mum & dad) have taken leave of us and set off for Seminole at Dumbarton. She is to be launched when the tides are right.
Might not the frogs lay more spawn if it has been a harsh winter? If more of the little fellas have perished, they may breed more. It's certainly been a colder winter than of late down here in Wales.

I was born in 1964.
My thoughts too.
I would have thought there is more spawn because there are more frogs due to the wet season last year resulting in more spawn surviving, as apposed to been a sign of a dry season to come
Maybe you will be proved right over the summer to come, we shall see! However the abundance of frogs spawn was on Kerrera and they have had a dry winter, or a dryer winter than normal would be more correct. Frogs are not normally retrospective creatures they look forward to predict what spawn they lay will survive. This year they have layed an abundance to ensure that some at least survive when the drought comes.
I have to say that this only at present applies to Western Scotland, I have seen hardly any frogspawn in Lancashire, much less than normal for this time of the year.
Be optimistic think positive, spring is here and its going to be a cracking year for us all.
We can't change the direction of the wind, but we can adjust our sails.
i have to report that frogspawn has been sighted in the lbb garden pond. this seems to have co-incided with an improvement in the local weather.
is this really a co-incidence .... or are the frogs at it ?
how long should i cook it in a pressure cooker ?
does it taste anything like cod roe ?

Frogs taste more like chicken and should be cooked as chicken in the pressure cooker, but make sure you put plenty in because they reduce to nowt after cooking, very good on a barm cake, be careful not t choke on a leg bone.
However don't forget t save some for weather forcasting.
