APOLOGIES FOR SERVER DOWNTIME

Post by Nick »

.
In spite of having reined in the bots the VPS this server is on is still running out of resources regularly. I have therefore purchased a new server with more resources which will primarily be for the use of this forum.

I intend to make a copy of the forum on another domain and get that up and running first, so any downtime should be kept to a minimum. Watch this space for further details.

The site is now sitting at http://www.oceanbluesailing.co.uk/phpBB3/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; with a redirect from the old URL. Next think to do is to actually move bluemoment.co.uk to this server, then I will make a separate installation of the forum software, back up this forum and restore it to the new one. Everything should then be back to normal or thereabouts. :tiphat:

Is that why I got a screen offering me to install phpBB3, 1/2 hour ago? (and no forum, AND I had to sign in again - as if I didn't have enough problems with my sore toe...)

Is the change of domain really bugging anyone?

Julian did send me a PM on TOP asking if I'd banned him . . . is anyone else having any issues?

It's not bugging me.

At the price you charge I don't think it's reasonable to complain TBH. :tiphat:

Just changed where my bookmark was pointing, and normal service is resumed :!:

At least it is MUCH more civilised on here. The rants on TOP seem to be getting worse

I must admit to throwing in the odd grenade now and again, then standing back to watch the fun

I didn't have to change anything - my bookmark since the change to phpBB3 has been

http://www.bluemoment.co.uk/phpBB3/index.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Still clicking on that and I assume that you're doing the redirect.

Am here now, sorry lads!

it did not redirect for me and I just went to a forbidden page..

Amazingly google found this new domain at the first result, unless you have been running this as a mirror nick, that must be a record for a top google ranking.

It may be worth you sending out a mailshot to all members telling them the new addy, I am sure I wont be the only one who's bookmark went to forbidden.. Though, my bookmark was at the 'forum' not the top of the site, if that makes any difference?

I had a similar response Julian, but it takes so little effort to find the new address and reset the link it was no big deal.
