Quite possibly, the bing is next to the M9 shortly after Edinburgh airport. The restoration was mostly done by an ex colleague of mine who sadly went bankrupt due to very high interest rates etc in the early 90s and he had to sell up. A fantastic building, I remeber visting when he'd just acquired it in 198-something and standing under hundreds of tons of stone not apparently held up by anything other than habit. If you ever get the chance to vist, check out the lead work on the roof, it's awesome craftsmanship.

What are the faveroute topics on BM? as it certainly aint yer average chat as per other sites, and it definatly aint "Where is it's", or "Technical Questions" (Where is the moderator got to?) as they mostly seem to draw a blank.
And there doesent seem to be a moticon for frigging angry either.

Can't condone that at all, at all. We know that the water up here is "cleaner, bluer, ....." etc. without being told, but do you really want all the sassenachs* to find out as well? If the Friday afternoon rush hour to Tobermory is anything like normal behaviour in the south, then I for one would much rather we advertised great whites, midges (the airborne equivalent!), poisonous jelly fish, uncharted rocks (we know where they are, but we're no telling), tidal rips, lack of vhf/mobile/3G/navtex communications, surly natives, crap weather and anything else derogatory. If they (i.e. anyone I don't approve of) can be confined to the groove between Dunstaffanage and Tobermory, the Clyde or totally discouraged, then there is a hope that "cleaner, bluer, better views, cheaper, better, more refined" water can be kept secret

Can I just point out that BlueMoment was never intended to be a purely Scottish site. It is described as a 'UK guide to sail cruising', and the bulk of the marine directory entries refer to non-Scottish businesses.

It is undoubtedly an excellent site for Scottish sailing content (the Moorings page, the Scottish marine directory pages, Boltholes etc) and it certainly does have a very high percentage of Scots as forum members, which is great - but I would hate to think that like-minded yachtsmen from South of the border were being put off by any over-enthusiastic Scottish slant or suggestion of exclusivity.

Still I do enjoy the site, and do feel you do a very impressive job on it and further more I do appreciate it.
My idea of a forum site is one where posters post on topics of interest to most of its readers, not just a handfull of them.

Every community has its cliques and 'in' jokes Eamonn . . . this would be a much duller place if all people did was have serious discussions on fundamentally nautical matters.

Well without having a go at your intentions, the forum does to me feel like the Scottish sailing club. I pop in now every couple of months to see if anything has come up that I feel able to join in on, but alas it is always about the finest loch or the best bit of grass or moor in the uk, always in Scotland. I am not complaining, it is a public forum, I am a relatively new member. I just don't feel it has any relevance to me or my sailing as a sassernach.

I find it a shame, but also the way it is, I will continue to look in occasionally and see what our jocks are up to, as that is definitely the way the forum slants.
