I like the 'How will I ever be simple again' one.
On a similar, but less happy note I saw Carthy and Waterson tonight.
Dreadful.
Glad there are plenty of CDs so they can still be heard at their best.

You can download a freeware program to rip an MP3 from a Youtube video HERE - works really well.
(It will install the ASK toolbar unless you untick the box during installation, but otherwise harmless)

Well it is one of the central characters.
PS - I will certainly let you know if I come across a Glasgow Single Sleeve valve engine regardless of it's condition.

My friend who restores 1920s motorcycles says there is one in the Transport Museum, but your best bet is to contact the VMCC. If you've got a wrecked one he could probably rebuild it for you, although he is very busy.

No but thanks. The Barr & Stroud engine is quite sought after and is something of a masterpiece but it is a motorcycle engine.Nick wrote:One of these?
I'm after the stationary engine such as this one

Although this picture is from a Barr & Stroud archive I think it is one of the Wallace (Glasgow) engines and looks very like the engine that is in Kittochside (Scottish National Museum of Rural Life). About 500 of the type E 3HP vertical stationary engines were built from 1921 to 1924. The predecessor to Wallace was the Argylls or Argyll Motor Cpy (of Loch Lomond) who were, in their day, the largest manufacturer of motor cars in Europe and the engines were single sleeve. Argyll went bust *successfully* defending the Burt-McCollum single sleeve valve patents; very sad.

Re: bin utubin agin
Not really my bag but is there not some engines similar to these in the Tearoom at Crinan?
