Weather & plans disconnect

Post by Ghillie »

We were planning to take Ghillie from Dallens Bay to Ardrossan this w/e, but the limited time available + forecast wind and wind direction have made us "wuss out" especially when considering the state of the crew(& skipper for that matter).
:(
Next w/e hopefully, tidal gates permitting.

Having make the decision, and in the way that these things happen I suspect that Shard may make the trip under good conditions and then please us with some delightful photos & commentary! :)

The wind direction is hardly promising for a thrash down the Sound of Jura. There is a dubious looking window Saturday night, but it woujld be a brave man who attempted to crawl through it if he didn't have to.

The Mull of Galloway to Mull of Kintyre including Firth of Clyde

Strong winds are forecast
Inshore waters forecast
24 hour forecast: 1900 Fri 17 Oct 1900 Sat 18 Oct
Wind Southwesterly 5 to 7, decreasing 4 later.
Sea state Slight, becoming moderate or rough.
Weather Showers.
Visibility Moderate or good, becoming poor for a time.

Outlook: 1900 Sat 18 Oct 1900 Sun 19 Oct

Wind Southwesterly 4, backing southerly 7 to severe gale 9.
Sea state Moderate or rough, occasionally very rough later.
Weather Showers then rain.
Visibility Good, becoming moderate or poor.

Fairwinds was towed to the hoist as we watched from the golf course half an hour ago - the sailing season is officially over :-(

Ardrossan for us also, so we're in the same boat, as it were, in a manner of speaking...

I've wussed out again. A 9, FFS!

See this global warming malarkey.......

Umm, where's the delete button? I mistakenly pressed quote instead of edit.... Silly fingers.
