Ayup, does anyone have any up to date info on how the Rothesay Harbour project is going on. Have they made any progress over the summer months.

Was there about 4 wks ago, the inner harbour had a level of water in it, and there are colums in place for the new pontoons.
Aparantly they are now in the process of bracing the parameter walls with huge wooden trelise type srtucture.
The new lift bridge is in place.
The intention is to have the bridge open while there is no ferry in, then close it while they are in, I guess this will work in tandom with the traffic control lights.

Thanks C-W

It will be interesting to see how this lift bridge works, understand that its for the foot passengers, trouble is, they don't arrive in a block they come down in dribs an drabs.

Hope it works out OK I always enjoy my trips to Rothesay, and not just because you can get the best Kippers in the universe.

I was there on Saturday, it looks like work has progressed but, it is no where near finished. Having moved the ferry berth forward, there is now considerable disturbance to the pontoons as the ferry docks and, they continue to use thrusters when docked.

I hadn't been to Rothsay since October 2006, I have to say, after this weekend, I shall now continue to sail on by.
I will not stay young forever but, I can be immature for the rest of my day's!

Thanks for that Booby Trapper, sure does look a long way to go yet and a bit worrying if wash form the ferry is going to be worse than it was.

Ah well it certainly won't be til next year when I mosey around, maybe will be finished by then.

Was there at the weekend. Inner harbour has grown a little more concrete and a lot of plastic pipes. The claim was an October finish - aye right!
Pontoons were very slippery, no leccy on the single one (but price is discounted). Nice Calmac man came and warned us they were about to move the ferry to the linkspan and it didn't make a ripple.

The original pontoons are still there and I'm sure you will have no problem getting one this time of year. Watch out for the QE2 on the Clyde Sunday.
