John was close, but Ocklepoint wins the dram (this has nothing to do with me being more more likely to see J than O).
We were anchored in Oitir Mhor Bay, Kerrera, so the the first pic is looking NW over the light on on Eilean Musdile, at the S of end of Lismore, towards Morven. The lower pic has the hills of Mull, from the same location.
I recognised it. Seen that view a few times, though only once this late in the year. I had to plan a night passage from Easdale to anchor in that bay for my day skipper course in June. It's dark in there at night!
Quite a good anchorage - we had a bit of swell with wind that swung to the NW for a while, but nothing much. Felt quite remote - even although you could see, beyond Kerrera, the big hooses on the hill on the north side of Oban.
I didn't test the bottom before dropping the pin, but pulling it up, and the last few metres of chain was a bit of a struggle - very glutinous mud. Smelly with it.
Silkie - it was the earlier thread that put me in mind of the place. Which one was it? Would be tidy with a link.
Presume you mean the boat rather than me since Silkie is certainly berthed there this season. I don't think I was there that weekend. At any rate there is nothing recorded in the log although I could have been on the sauce with Merry Monster if there was anything more than F3 forecast.
Oh, the boat, certainly. That weekend it was nice and calm, but it was blowing a 9 by Tuesday. I remember little about it, it being the first day of our course and having so much on my mind, but I do remember seeing a boat called Silkie.
