An atom said he thought he had lost an electron. 'Are you sure?' asked a fellow atom. 'Aye, I'm positive,' he replied.

Particles
I once heard a rather fine poem, reputedly by James Clark Maxwell no less, which began something like:
Gin a body meet a body flyin through the air,
Gin a body strike a body, will it fly, and where?...
I wish I knew the rest of it. Can anyone help?
Gin a body meet a body flyin through the air,
Gin a body strike a body, will it fly, and where?...
I wish I knew the rest of it. Can anyone help?

In Memory of Edward Wilson, Who Repented of What Was in His Mind to Write after Section
Gin a body meet a body
Flyin’ through the air,
Gin a body hit a body,
Will it fly? and where?
Ilka impact has its measure,
Ne’er a ane hae I,
Yet a’ the lads they measure me,
Or, at least, they try.
Gin a body meet a body
Altogether free,
How they travel afterwards
We do not always see.
Ilka problem has its method
By analytics high;
For me, I ken na ane o’ them,
But what the waur am I?
James Clerk Maxwell
He wrote quite a few poems it would seem.

'Aye,' he replied. 'But it's nae bother. I've got an ion constitution.'Shard wrote:An atom said he thought he had lost an electron. 'Are you sure?' asked a fellow atom.

This day seven years ago
I'll never forget the footage of the most powerful man in the western world hearing the first news of the attacks while visiting a primary school classroom.
