It's probably akin to aviation. Every sailor starts out with two boxes, one full of luck and the other, empty, into which goes experience. The trick is to fill the second box before the first is empty.
Either box can be any colour you choose.

To prevent embarassment, a word of advice to those new to the Classic Malts Cruise. When visiting the various distilleries on the way, it is customary to tip the tour guides. Lavishly. Perhaps even extravagantly. There is really no limit to the riches you may bestow on these hard-working, dedicated ...

Apologies for missing your call, Silkie, (bit of a cock-up on the answering service front) and failing to provide my wind-abating services, but whisky duties precluded and in any case I had failed to keep up to speed and had assumed Silkie was still hors de combat with a partially-detached front sai...

Work permitting indeed - I am sat on tenterhooks (whatever they are they are damned uncomfotable) expecting to be summoned to whisky duty at any minute. Until I actually start, I have no idea what time off I am likely to get (if any). I'll keep you posted, but don't hold the berth open for me if you...

It is just possible that Silkie would like to sail rather than motor. Given my proven ability to generate flat calm for miles around me when on a wind-powered vessel (WAZ excepted) it might not be such a good idea. Not sure of my availability, work-wise, at the mo either, but if ballast is needed an...

That Tim Bowles is a bit of a jinx on the wind. I've had him aboard three times now and there hasn't been more than 15 minutes of decent breeze in total. Still, if he has the same effect when he takes me up in his microlight I'll be quite happy. Sadly not. Since I got the wing re-mantled and fitted...

OK. Figured it out and they're history. That was 4 spam sign-ups since I cleared them out just after 1800. I'm not too sure about Lisa_B24 either but decided to give the benefit of the doubt on the grounds that a B24 might be a vessel of some description. Lisa_B24 keeps turning up in Seil chat too,...
