BLUEMOMENT

Went on the news section of WHAM a couple of days ago and it had just been updated last week. Been back on today to check out the details and it seems to have reverted to the previous update from February. Anyone any ideas as to why that would happen?

Possibly a server crash and backup restore. or their web guy accidentally uploading an old version of a page. (I've done it more than once!)

Just realised what is happening. When I go on via my tablet it shows the update but when I go on via my laptop it is still the old version. I take it that means they have still to update the windows version or a technical glitch has reverted the windows version back to previous version. Thanks for the reply above.

I think your laptop is showing you a page that the laptop has cached. As far as I know, the only remedy is to type ctrl-R but Nick might know better.

The latest update was 14/4/16

Thanks Derek. After reading your response I went back in via my laptop which still showed the old version. I then pressed the refresh button and up came the updated version!

Don't know how to stop that happening though and how many other times it happens on other pages.

Pressing F5 works as well.

Nick (or any other webwise soul),

Is there a way to force a page to reload every time, either in the code of the page or in the computer/browser? Automatically that is, not relying on pressing F5 or ctrl-r.

Using the cache seems like a hangover from dial-up internet when it saved time and data cost, or is there more to it?

Firefox:

1. type this into the address bar: about:config
2.you will see a long list of settings with a "Search" bar at the top of the page
3.type this into the Search: browser.cache.check_doc_frequency
4.double click on the browser.cache.check_doc_frequency line to edit it
5.change the value to: 1
6.press OK to save the change

IE:

Settings
Internet Options
Browsing History
Settings
Check for newer versions of stored pages: Every time I visit the webpage


Chrome:

You will need to install an extension such as Auto-refresh or Super Auto-Refresh


Safari and Android:

Can't be done
