Aquaplane, my apologies for not answering your question - a look at recent posts will explain. We have two in mind, one at Blaich on the banks of loch Oic, the other overlooking Acharacle and Loch Shiel SWMBO can't make her mind up and I am happy with either - which I think is confusing her.

Salen (Sunart) would be handy for Acharacle

Hi Claymore

Yes, I'd taken an E-look there as part of the decision making process. Spotted a nice house on the road leading to Salen that we both liked, but SWMBO persuaded herself it may flood - despite being 100+ft ASL. Afraid it had to be rejected as part of the negotiation process with SWMBO following last week-ends bother with the boat. Odd really, men tend to think in a linear manner, moving from cause to effect to response. Women dream up an effect with no consideration of whether a cause is possible, probable or impossible. Very difficult to manage, even after 30 years experience. How do you persuade someone that something will not happen, "yes, but it MIGHT" is impossible to counter.

I've always found " Ah well, better get the kettle on" works wonders.

Yes, you're right of course. Logical argument and reason is a complete waste of breath. After 37 years I ought to know better.

Ah , the G3WPS revelation (from another thread) adds yet another requirement to the list for the new house... so the lady wins - up the hill we go!

Ha - You have not taken into account the subtlety and depth of my perfidy. The house SWMBO wants is custom designed for HF radio and aerial erection. Long length of garden and plenty of wooden antenna supports (AKA trees). Although altitude is important for VHF - earthing is vital to HF operation. The earth is half of the aerial system, and low lying land close to water makes an excellent earth. All I need is to have a mooring placed and the boat is only a few yards from home. One always has to create an assett to sacrifice as an alternative to what you really want. (BTB its 20k cheaper too - I am a Yorkshireman!)

It IS the sea - well a sea loch anyway. Maritime Mobile is on the cards but not signed off yet by SWMBO. One battle at a time - softly - softly...................... Of course its only there for emergencies in those wild and lonely waters.
