Last (non-football-related) battle between England and Scotland. 1-0 to England king-wise, James IV copping it, rather bad news altho an understandable move that he inititiated - married to Henry VIII's sister, who amongst can honestly say they have never wanted to declare war on their brother-in-law, hm? Turned out ok eventually, as of course his grandson James VI of Scotland became James I of England and Scotland.

No, the chentleman is quite right, Culloden was more the suppression of an insurgency as it might be put today than a battle between sovereign states.

Well, this appeared on TOP a while back and I suggested something along the lines of whilst it was a dreadful event, some good came of it as 'The flowers of the forest' was born of the conflict.
Some pillock went on about it being a dirge. Perhaps my appreciation of that sad and beautiful lament might be better received within these hallowed virtual portals.....

Well, meh, Culloden only arguably an international match, but more of a B-team affair contested by less than a quarter of the crowd than that which attended at Flodden, and no axshul genuine kings on the Culloden pitch, just one Prince and even he was a er, Pretender. There again Flodden had only one king on the pitch altho that's one reason why they invaded then - Henry was on international duty in France and his wife managed the team very excellently in his absence. Flodden a cup tie, maybe a final or semi-final - Culloden more of a relegation scrap, more notable for the injuries than the result. Back to you in the studio, Nick.
