Girvan now has 35 new berths!
You have no excuse for not visiting now. Just get the tide right at the bar.

And http://www.south-ayrshire.gov.uk/images ... anpontoons

They are on both sides of the harbour- including along the wall below the lock-ups. Hopefully too flimsy for the fishing boats! (which usually moor to the seaward side of this area anyway)
I don't know if they did any more dredging or not, but the bottom is exceedingly soft mud.
HM Roddy is a gent and very helpful.

A useful intermediate port for heading South towards NI or IOM or indeed for those approaching the Clyde

Thanks for that.
Now does anyone know if there is a pontoon to tie up to at Brodick or is it visitors moorings only?

Brodick was the one place where I didn't feel happy leaving the dinghy. No real reason, just something in my waters. We landed on the beach and I sat at a picnic table while the crew went shopping then I left her there while I walked to the garage. I noticed that someone had left a dinghy with outboard on the concrete slip halfway between the beach and the garage. Maybe I'm just paranoid. Mind you we did lose a dinghy from the beach at Rowardennan. Most inconvenient when you've left your mother ship on a mooring.
