Oban lifeboat is reported to be standing by a grounded Contessa 32 in Ardencaple Bay (just North of the fish farm on the E. side of Seil Sound) to help with an attempt to refloat the yacht at high water, which is some time after midnight.

Do we know who it was? I can think of at least one forum member whose vessel fits that description (the Contessa 32 part, not necessarily the grounded bit).

The boat was called Ban Iala.

She refloated successfully quite a while before high water, apparently undamaged, and re-anchored for the night.

Ban Iala is currently on a mooring in Balvicar Bay. She's a blue CO32 but without the normal CO lettering in the cove line near the bow. I'm sure that means something.

We've been loading the boat up and are off in the morning for a few days . . . thinking of heading for Lowlandmans' Bay tomorrow night if there's enough wind - we've not been in there yet, though we've been past it enough times.

I'm in a similar position, but planning on taking tomorrow's morning tide north. I think this is my latest ever first trip of the season...

I've spent one night in Lowlandman's Bay: it was OK, but a certain amount of swell did come in.

I'll be out on Friday - heading up on the flood I guess.
Will have a listen out.

The lack of CO on the bow means she was one of the Contessa's built during a period where for legal reasons Rogers's yachts could not use the Contessa -CO logo. I forget the exact date.

After they won the case the CO was put back into the mould.

We need to be at the top of the Sound of Jura at 4 o'clock tomorrorw afternoon to catch the tide, which is a bit late . . . but we could still be anchored up in Lowlandmans Bay by 8, so we'll see. If we get away early and may go out of Cuan and head North, or perhaps down the West side of Jura to WLT . . .

Decisions, decisions. Not a lot of wind forecast.

We spent 40 hours there in 2011, while a NW gale came and went. The shelter was excellent and we experienced no swell. Anchoring was a bit of a challenge due to kelp but once it was in, it held well (and was reluctant to come out!).

Well, we went to Coll instead. Fantastic weather.

Met friends in Lochaline and again in Arinagour.

Met up with Shard for a musical evening in Loch Drumbuie.

Changed the oil in Tobermory.

I passed D & C on my way round Ardnamurchan. I was heading for Loch nan Uamh, but engine problems when drifting in a near calm down on to Bo Faskadale forced a diversion to Port Mor, Muck.
