The title of your post is misleading! The cunning game plan of letting the opposition do what they liked that worked so well against Ireland didnae work this week. I don't give Wales much of a chance against England if they play like that. Probably France/Scotland for the spurtle.

The pound I stuck on France isn't looking good either!

My bookie took my £ and sneered when offering 100 to 1 on Italy that his book couldn't cope with anything higher and certainly not the 100,000 to 1 I expected. Bit like the mpg display on the jag never gets higher than 99 even if freewheeling down a 10:1. Thought computers were cleverer these days after the millennium thingamajig?

A new record in the Jag coming back from MiL in Salisbury. A gentle stroll home mostly on cruise control gave us 51.9mpg for the round trip of 292 miles

I saved my pound.

Normally, with Reggie Perrin's rhino image in one's mind, a figure in the high teens is the best you could hope for. How, how do you do it?

Is that the S or XK?

The first thing to do is reset the trip when the engine is up to temp & you are already cruising. Incidentally, Cruise Control is NOT good for good mpg figs. Stop using the brakes, keep the R foot really gentle on the throttle & slow down using engine braking as the injectors get shut off on over run, ohh & avoid sitting at red lights for hours on end in towns.

Finally, always head south cos that's downhill on all maps innit?
