The application for the proposed 9-turbine Clachan windfarm adjacent to Puilladobhran was considered by Argyll & Bute's planning committee yesterday. They recommended the application for refusal but deferred the final decision to a Discretionary Hearing because of the degree of public interest. This will take place ‘locally’ probably after a site visit by the Councillors. Members of the public will be able to attend and speak at this meeting.

That does look nice.

I do think that windmills add much graceful movement to any otherwise empty landscape. Sadly, given the usual weather in that area I doubt that many will be lucky enough to see them thro the cloud & mist.

Anyway, I hope you are successful in encoraging the ivestment in sustainable energy, which will bring much needed income to the landowner & reduce his dependence on sheep.

That explains why all the blades are stopped in the exact same position.
I think its a false representation of a true windfarm!

Presumably, though, the Scottish Government can over-rule the planners. And given Eck's increasingly deranged view of the potential contribution of renewable generation, I would have thought it not unlikely.

Rory Young has invested a fair bit in this, so I guess he will pursue whatever avenues are open.

I am amazed that the Scottish government has time to look at every tinpot windfarm application - it's only 9MW ffs, hardly worth getting excited about.

The bays to the left and right, in front of Puilladobhran, (is it Applecross something or another) what is the charted water depth? They look like good anchorages as an alternative to Puilladobhran.

Ardencaple Bay. Yes, I anchored there earlier this year. There's also space outside Puilladobhrain which would be a useful "overflow" in fairly calm conditions when P'n is full. The disadvantage as CW says is that it's a bit further to walk or row respectively to get to the pub.
