Anyone with spare googling time on their hands today? Received the following from Mojomo this morning:

Yanmar 4JH4-E two engine mounts per motor, first stage is find the partno (they’re all the same, 2D pyramid shaped about 15cm long and high, 6 -8 cm thick, ish) second thing is find somewhere that stocks them – I need two but four would let me do the lot, both engines.

I've had a preliminary look, seems that port and starboard side are NOT necessarily the same and that saildrive models (Mojomo has saildrives) are different.

Matt is en-route to Papeete at the moment, unable to use the port engine because one of the mounts has gone and worried about damaging the saildrive gaiter if he does. The mounts are going to have to be shipped to Tahiti. I have e-mailed Alliura to see if they can shed any light.

Yep, i would sail it cept lack of wind, always a tough one...

Is the engine configuration particulary hard on mounts?
Maybe the next size up would last longer if they can be shoe-horned in without distorting the gasket thingy.
Not the sort of thing I would want to go wrong off soundings. Lucky you carry a 'spare'.

More likely that they are kept in stock for supply with new engines I would think.

I'm intrigued. Do saildrives require special mounts due to the tilting action (as opposed to the straight-line torsion of a supported shaft)?
I knew there was a recommendation to replace the membrane, but have never heard of one for the mounts.

I've never owned a saildrive, and am now happy to mop up some bilge dribble if it means my mounts will last another 30 years.

Doesn't seem good value? At (say) 5 knots that's only 200 hours running. That could be a change every second year or so.

Every second year? You don't know Mojomo. For a start she motors at eight knots, so that's 125 hours running, which is only just over five days. So basically the engine mounts should be changed at least once every transat or transpac . . .

Seems a bit rubbish to me.
