I've just taken The Boy to see this show in Edinburgh. Quick review: it's absolutely brilliant. Well worth seeing. It's now finished in Edinburgh but is touring for a few months yet.

I concur. We went last night and all (Grandaughter aged 9, son aged 37 and his partner, self aged over 60, partner and her pal visiting from France) thoroughly enjoyed it. The final scene, where Swallow and Amazon sail off was very cleverly staged and quite moving.

Good heavens, you must have been there with us. Yes, we loved the ending too, and The Boy insisted on a photograph of Amazon afterwards. I'm sure that if it hadn't been the last night in Edinburgh we'd have gone back to see it again, and we may try to catch it later in the tour.
I thought they captured the spirit and themes of the book quite beautifully.

I concur. I thought the first half was a bit slow but the second half better. Loved the staging and the boats. Best stage sailing boats since Wildcat Theatre's production of The Silver Darlings about 20 years ago.

The first sail when they went tacking down the lack was just stunning. Four actors, two stagehands and minimal props, but it really felt as if they were afloat on a grand sailing day.

Ah yes - willing suspension of disbelief, as exercised by the crew of the Good Ship Claymore . . .
