It looks like Rosally (and myself) will be heading back West after next season. Despite a couple of very enjoyable years at Peterhead, I have decided that I miss the scenery and anchorages of the West Coast and intend heading over that way again (A 3 day break - by car- over to Dunstaffnage, the other week, finally made my mind up for me).
I would have been heading over next season but have already made a 'gentlemans agreement' with the Harbour Master at Lossiemouth to take a berth there for next season, so it will be 2013 before I move back - although a 1 month cruise is planned around Oban for next year, 'roon the tap rather than through the canal.
Although Peterhead is probably not associated with scenery on a par with the West Coast, I will be sad to leave it as it has been an ideal location to get to grips with my seamanship, particularly the heavier weather sailing and it is where I have been getting used to single handing (night sailing is most definitely my favoured plan - and not just because of the North East scenery during the day). I would certainly say that the North Sea has been a useful experience.
However, I knew I wouldn't be able to stay away from 'the other side' too long.
Hopefully, I will see some familiar faces when I get there and I must say, I am most definitely looking forward to it.
