.
The Oban lifeboat launched late last night (31st August 2010) at 22.48 to make the short run across Oban Bay to the marina on the Isle of Kerrera. There she picked up a lady from the yacht, Fred J Noonan, who required hospitalisation.
The Mora Edith MacDonald then took the patient to a waiting ambulance at the lifeboat berth, refuelled and was ready for service again by 23.45.

Sorry to hear this. She was a Dunstaffnage liveaboard for some years and moved round to Kerrera earlier this year. I hope she makes a speedy recovery.
(Doubtless everyone will know that FJN was Amelia Earhart's navigator.)

No - actually I didn't but couched in such terms I feel I should have - please accept my sincere apologies for my ignorance and I shall access the amazon site this very minute with the intended joint outcome of developing my personal knowledge of what was obviously a fundamental of life, navigation, cottage cheese and all manner of things - as well as lining the webmeisters pockets.
An observation of the original post leads me to suggest that if that is what the "Around the Scottish Coast" forum is about then I don't feel my world will spin the slower without the information presented.
I take it Nocodemus that you favour the titilation of the Sun, Mirror and Record style of "journalism" rather than that found in the Guardian.

I think the fact that one of our posters knew the lady personally and responded to the OP within a few hours shows precisely why this type of news is welcome here by some. Others are welcome to just
quietly ignore it.

FJN is now back in Dunstaffnage (driven away from Kerrera by the water shortage) and her skipper appears to have made a full recovery, as everyone except Claymore will surely be pleased to hear.
