I agree. With that amount of water in the boat, it would have been brown trousers time for me. Hope you get the exhaust elbow fixed quickly.

Nick, is this particular Blog a ploy to keep us all away from Norwegian sailing grounds? Because it all seems a little hard work, and not the sunny, pleasant and enjoyable sailing holiday we would all like to partake of.
Good seamanship and planning/revised planning exercise yes!.... and definitely memorable.

It's his own fault. To venture North after the traditional British end of summer in late June, well, only a madman would try it.

Yesterday set a new record for wetness. I've written it up. Elbow repair was effective but expensive. Going to drink a lot of beer when we get back to Scotland, but at the mo the Jura is going down well. Conditions forced me to drink some on passage yesterday.

Don't worry about it. Cadel Evans has a broken elbow in the Tour de France, and he's been clocking up 200km per day for a fortnight. No welding, either.

The recent rallying of the pound has made being here much more affordable. Today I bought a pastry thingie and came out with change from a tenner. Just.
