Heater fitting.

When deciding where to fit a heater to a Centaur, in the Stbd ¼ berth is not an easy option.

Bit spare with the details aren't you? Where do you think it should have been? What went wrong? I am considering one in my Pentland & the saloon berth is the current favourite, but it means the exhaust has to go out the side & I have heard tales of melted fenders.

I don't know wether to put loads of blurb here or in Gear and Gadgets or on the WOA web forum. I have no pics yet so it may be best to wait.
I did think that access would be easier at the front of the Stbd ¼ berth with the chimney up through the tail end of the walk round. It probably was easier than in the cockpit locker.
It was interesting getting the jig saw in to cut away the inner moulding. Getting a drill into some of the spaces to cut holes for the ducting was a bit of a challenge too, I suppose all that comes under "working on a boat".
The Wallas has the option of a pop up through hull exhaust which you can hang the heater off without any exhaust ducting, that's what I have. It's not got the recommended clearance round it according to the instructions but I'm keeping an eye on temps and it's OK so far. I too have heard of folk melting fenders with Eber style exhaust fittings, I suppose that's why you see most in the transom where fenders aren't that common.

Mine wouldn't melt a fender - it does get warm but not fendermelt hot.
