Assume no swinging room so weight/displacement doesn't matter..
Seems a lot to me, is there an overhead to park the dink safely?

OK you deep-pocketed short-armed lot, let's consider:
~ To lay a mooring would usually cost from £800 upwards unless you did it all yourself.
~ Moorings in Oban are like hens teeth.
~ It is the same price as one an a half years rental of a mooring for a 8m boat at Oban marina (Kerrera).
I posted it here because I regularly get asked about moorings. Someone will be very glad of it.

Doesn't seem cheap to me, but what do I know?
How much is the annual charge to whoever?
In the Roach Sailing Assoc, I can have a fully serviced mooring for 450 quid a year complete with dinghy shed, launching ramp and free car park.

Annual charge is likely to be £80 to the Crown Estates. Servicing will be the owners' responsibility. If you hire someone to do it who is doing other moorings in the neighbourhood the cost of an annual inspection is generally £80 - £100. It is your mooring, you are just renting the seabed from the Crown. Jim, you have an excellent deal. Linnhe Marine are £650 for the Summer season, that is just about the best deal round here but it is quite a long sail down to Oban.
I have no idea who is selling it - I just copied the details from the Oban Times. Why don't you phone them up and moan about how expensive it is? I expect it has already gone anyway.

Chill out everyone. Cheap or expensive it can't help to know about it. Anyone who wants a mooring has more information to base their decision on anyone who doesn't doesn't have to look.
At worst the OP was totally harmless, at best very useful for someone!
