It seems that
Dr Finlay was trained by Gustave Flaubert's papa, thus bringing to our attention an unlikely connection between Callander and the author of Madame Bovary.
This link probably explains the piece of dialogue in that great novel, which has baffled literary critics and academics for decades; "Now, would you be wanting two kippers in your porridge this morning, Dr Cameron?"
