Just spent an enjoyable hour or so perusing a blog I "found" .. then realised it ceased to exist after September 10th 2008.
Very good it was too Dave A pleasurable read indeed.

Glad you enjoyed it but it was pretty much finished by August 2006.

You should do one (but not on the current Yotblog) to record your first season. Then we can all have a good laugh.

Jist (half-) kiddin' but wholly serious.

Good man. Remember, you don't have to record all the caulk-ups, just enough to make it seem convincing. :)

You've got me on my toes tonight!
Started the blog you suggested. Just replied to your PM - so went to YBW as suggested and joined Dunstaff Users.

Good start to the blog. I hadn't realised you'd also had Kylie with you on that first trip. She looks like a natural the way she's holding that tiller extension.

PS - I realise the grey beard lends a certain nautical gravitas but you don't have to do everything I suggest.

Great stuff. I love reading what you fellas get up to on the West coast. As it were.

If you ever fancy having a look at what a couple of your Southerly cousins are getting up to:

It's hosted by me, which means I have to hand carve each page out of Internet teak, so if it gets buggerised, please bear with me.

Sorry for the delay. Actually managed to get some sailing in last week.

Tigger was a rescue dog, very nervous and afraid of water when we got him - it took over 4 years before he would swim.

The only thing I would say about dogs as crew is that it takes time. Tigger was always fine under power, but hated the heeling when we sailed. I've found that if I go below and play with him, chase him, give him biscuits and so on when we are sailing, he assumes that there is no problem, and relaxes. This has worked wonders.

Louise and I being relative newcomers to sailing, however, there are occasional raised words, and this causes him to retreat to the back of the quarterberth.

The other thing is that I have made a point of using the dinghy and playing with him on a beach when we stop. Even if there is no time, or real 'need'. He has thus started to associated the yacht as somewhere he has fun, and I've noticed a marked improvement this last few weeks. He gets excited when he sees our 30 year old avon redstart now (I do too, but that's a rubber fetish).

He's now been sailing a year, and it's taken this long to see him really relax. He still won't do his business on a boat, which will be a problem as we progress and spend longer afloat, but I'm thinking about that problem.
