I am considering acquiring a penknife. Would any eminent contributors be able to advise?

Never used them since they brought in those clever fountain pen things. "They came as a boon and a blessing to men, the Pickwick, the Owl and the Waverley pen."
There's a handy wee lockback knife that takes Stanley knife blades - at all the usual DIY outlets. Very useful on the boat.

Gerber E-Z Outâ„¢ Rescue, I bought er outdoors one, it is brilliant, if I know you as well as I think you do... you will do as I and spend a day finding twines to cut as it is such fun slicing through ropes like butter.
obvious standard disclaimers...
or is this a wind-up and I have missed the plot as you should have a pocket knife anyway, the fact you don't have one is a tad unbelievable considering the car dealership quantity of tools you have in your tool 'trunk' on board.

One can never go far wrong if one uses a swiss product. A Bentley-driving friend of mine and keen exponent of the art of limbo dancing at toll roads has a contact with an engraver and did in fact commission a rather splendid jobbie for my good self to celebrate a recent major millstone in my life.
The Swiss product was much coveted by numerous members of my family and had it not been for the rather splendid "Claymore-Cruise Director" insignia boldly emblazoned, I maight well have been parted from this most prized and treasured possession.
I will be attending next years Cruise in the Flagship - you have been assigned a bunk, Matthew, and I shall be pleased to demonstrate my dexterity with it.
So far I have cut lettuce in the greenhouse, snipped a piece of in growing toenail off, extracted a cork from a rather splendid Pinot Grigot, filed smooth a broken fingernail and taken 3 boy scouts out of a horses hoof.
You were missed

Space saving shouldn't really be an priority for you, but have you thought about an inflatable penknife?
