Demented Budgie

Post by ash »

Got round to hoisting the BM burgee at the weekend, and it's a bit demented - no wonder one managed to escape.

I hope that it quietens down a bit by becoming softer.

Since the photo, I've tightened the hoist, but the Vega burgee is subdued by comparison.

Must admit I am also guilty of this crime Marisca, so can you tell me where you would prefer it be hung?
Mine has frayed its point from whipping on the cap shroud.

I think that the order of precedence - from high to lower - is

Stern
Masthead
Starboard Crosstree
Port Crosstree

My arguement would be that the burgees in question aren't associated with a defaced blue so don't need a high position.

The starboard crosstree would be used for courtesy flag / 'Q' flag.

Maybe they need to be shuffled back and forth dependant on what else is flown.

C_W ...... don't mention your saltire - or you will be flamed!!!

Wherever you choose to fly them from, please make sure that they are not going to fray themselves against a shroud. Shrouds are metal, much stronger than cloth.

The clatter of a case-hardened budgie against an ajacent shroud is 'kin deafening, (and the hoists are too far out from the mast....)
I can't wait for mine to fray and get shorter so I can get to sleep!

.
We have put arrangements in place for dropping and furling the budgie when the wind requires it for a good night's sleep.

Don't have the discipline to get them down every night,
it's usually the little puffs interrupting an otherwise quiet night (0400) that do the damage.
Bare feet on a dewy deck lost it's attraction long ago.
going to move the hoist....sometime.
