Wearers of official BlueMoment Burgees are cordially invited to join a muster at Inchcolm anchorage on Saturday 9th May for lunch, and for a possible overnight stay somewhere suitable for the conditions. This is probably a bit cheeky since I won't be going (boat's on the wrong side of the country), but which Inchcolm anchorage did you have in mind? There's the big, obvious bay to the north below the abbey where you have to avoid the cable, or the wee inlet to the west where you can get ashore without paying landing fees. (Now how would I know that? )

I prefer the bay directly N of the Abbey, the cables are just to the E in the smaller, admittedly better sheltered bay where the trip boats land. I'm not sure which inlet you mean Dave, there is a little beach up in the SW corner of the bay where landing is possible. Is that it?

No, the tower isn't in the way, but the view does confirm that the west landing is not visable from the Abbey. It's about 20 years since I've been there, so I had to look it up. From my 1986 edition of the FYCA Pilot Handbook:

"West Landing: At SW side of island below high cliff on West side of rocky point sticking out to the South. Enter from South close to rocky point and round in behind "L" shaped jetty - foot of jetty covers at HW and has depth of about 1m at LW. Sheltered from Easterlies. Anchorage 75m SW of jetty in approx. 4m. Subject to swell from passing ships. Steep path leads to Abbey and Main Landing."

The jetty is shown on my 1978 edition of 736, but what sort of condition it is now in I have no idea. I'm sure I anchored and landed by dinghy, and don't really remember the jetty.
