Fairly open to ideas - even thinking about Inveness. Priority is keeping costs down.

Can I suggest another way of doing this? If you approach http://www.whamassoc.org.uk/ and ask where there is/are mooring associations with free spaces, you could purchase and lay your own mooring. It would be no more expensive than an eternal search for a mooring to buy.

Thanks Donald,

kind of taken your advice- gone for a mooring laid in the Gareloch but with requirement to join Helensburgh SC every year. Quite like the idea of being a member of a club anyway. Only problem now is should I fly the Bluemoment penant above or below the club one! :?

HSC is quite relaxed about these things unlike the RNCYC along the road, so I wouldn't be too bothered about burgee etiquette! HSC clubhouse should be finished soon - so I believe.

Launching from the slip at very low tide is interesting to say the least!

Good luck

Donald, do you mean launching from the public slipway in Helensburgh town?
I launched my first little boat there once, felt like it is about a 35 degree decline.
You could launch at the slipway on the Clyde where the Yoker ferry crosses, I think it is free, but stand to be corrected.
Good luck, C_W

No, I meant the slip at HSC. It is a really good slip and ideal for dinghies of all types, just at very low water there are extensive mussel banks that have to be negotiated until you get to deeper water.
