Head up - tomorrows winds

Hi all,
Juist wanted to give you a heads up on the winds tomorrow if you are planning any sailing in the UK, especially through the English Channel and along eastern coasts.
There will be widespread gales in both of these locations, the coasts serving to compress the winds and increase them further. I'm predicting gusts to F9 in the Channel and at least F8 along eastern coasts.
This is a perfect example of winds from GRIB not being as predicted. Chart below shows the output from the GFS giving means of 25kt. This equates to a F6, but the speed has been smoothed and when you add in the gusts it certainly is well about the F6 predicted. Southern edge of high pressure is often the zone where the winds are increased, and in such zones it is a good idea to add on at least 5kt or a force the the forecast winds.
