Very clean, was she jet washed before pics?
That is a weird contraption of a hoist, not the 75 tonner I am used to.
Silkie looks as if she is a very stiff boat, judging by her long keel.

Prolly just rocking - it's not the smoothest slip.

Indeed. IIRC it's several years since I had any assistance with bottom painting.

She would have been on her way to the jet wash and the hoist is an 18 ton lift. Silkie is initially tender in fact due to the hull shape but ultimately stiff thanks to the 43% ballast ratio. The keel does give a good grip on the water. :)

The hoist at Ardlui is an older model ( ex Ardrossan IIRC ) and so, like the trailer at Dunstaffnage, the ends of the strops can't be moved independantly.

If the hull isn't exactly in the centre when the strops take the weight, then the hull will roll along the strop to a balance point.

I had sort of imagined that the keel would keep her upright, but of course the righting moment at a small angle of heel is less than the friction between the strops and the hull.

I would imagine that the plastic sleeves used at Dunstaffnage are designed to reduce the friction and so help her sit more upright.

OTH, maybe Silkie just left his wallet lying on the Stb bunk! :)

It will be the wallet - lets face it, he spends buggerall on clothes
