Guilt

I have recently (and for various reasons which need not be gone into here) turned down the opportunity to crew on a trip to Oostende aboard a friend's boat, at almost the last minute. This was difficult decision and I feel bad about having left my friend in the lurch, even if only a little bit since I am unlikely to have been the most valuable crew member aboard.

Dont worry, instinct in these sorts of occassions always stands you in good stead. Your sub concious almost always never lets you down, it was guiding you on the best course.(for you)

Silkie, your getting in a fret over nothing..... it wasn't and never will be a problem.... its far too relaxed and informal on the East Coast to worry about things like that.... life's too short.
There will be plenty of other opportunities, and you remain right at the top of the list of invitees!

TFT MC. I haven't heard back from the man himself though.

i've spoken to him since.... he's not in the slightest bit bothered or annoyed in anyway at all....

I think Silkie undersells himself a bit there. He was indeed Top Crew Member, and to be joined by D3B of TOP.
I am sorry you cant join us Dave, but the offer still stands for any other trips.
As a mark of respect, I havent filled the available crew slot, and will hold a small glass lifting ceremony to absent friends when we get there.

Give me a call if you do and I'll raise a glass too.
Sorry I couldn't come and again, apologies for letting you down.
Have a great trip.

Possibly, but I think I'll pour it the night before just to be on the safe side.
