I once (it was enough) sailed with a Swede who insisted on playing Rule Britannia at top volume as we entered an anchorage.

Jim (FullCircle) and I once sailed through the middle of the racing fleet off Harwich with the cruising chute up, and the 1812 overture playing at full volume on his cockpit sound system...... well it made me laugh anyway....

They played that at the 2nd or 3rd Edinburgh Fireworks Concert (which, for anyone not familiar with it, is a great spectacle: the castle in the background, and all the fireworks being let off from the ramparts in time to the music.) Anyway, for the 1812 they had all the sound effects arranged big style, with several surrounding churches ringing bells at the appropriate point, and real cannon joining in, reinforced by an absolutely massive morter. The noise was unbelievable, and the pressure pulses set off just about every shop's burglar alarm in Princes Street...

Arrrgh!

I couldn't imagine anything worse than some wally entering harbour with loud music. Can I get a restraining order to at least keep you away from me - I should hate to end up in gaol because you have died of a boathook thro the heart.

I love the sound of the sea, the gulls, the wind & even the surf. PLEASE don't drown it with mechanical "music" that will almost certainly not suit someone.

ps. do you also "drive" a shiny plastic MoBo at great speed?

I have to cast my vote for Fingal's Cave (Hebridean Overture), especially if you come surfing in sideways, only just under control, at full throttle in a grossly under-engined boat. adds that little Je ne sais quois.
