Craobh Marina Toilet Block - Access Limited To Marina Users Only

At Craobh Marina the toilet block door will be fob operated so that berth holders and visiting yachts get exclusive use. Fobs are being handout and I think at easter is when it will be activated. Non marina users can pay to pee at £5 a piddle or plop. Off course most of us are likely to visit by boat so this will not affect us.
Berth holders get two fobs and extra fobs can be rented for £10 deposit. Keep the receipt to get your £10 back, I have a pile from Kip as I lost the receipts over the years.

I have a visitor's fob from Kip. Any indication it would work at Croabh?

Extreme privatization creating a secondary market in fob-rental at Craobh Marina with a sliding scale of charges from pee to poop to full “excrement a shower and a shave”. Demand based pricing a la Ryanair
During WHYW securicor or G4 brought in to enforce on behalf of berth holders

Who is it that is currently using the bogs that they are trying to exclude? Is it the fish farm workers or people visiting the watersports place?

I spoke to James at the weekend. Apparently campers, walkers, swimmers, divers (who are not using charter boats from the marina) and motorhomes etc are coming to the Marins just to have a shower and use the facilities. There have been times when all the showers are in use by non berth holders (or their visitors) and there is an increasing frequency of damage, dirt and mess.
He also commented on having told people that these are private facilities, they just wait until the marina staff leave and then come in later in the evening.
The marina staff area also getting abuse from these folks when they inform them that they are not public facilities and there are more frequent times when the mess that is left has meant the toilets have to be shut until walls, ceiling and floors are cleaned.....
The fish farm workers have their own facilities and changing rooms and are known to the Marina staff, so it's not them.
Joking aside, its really disappointing that people behave this way and show no respect for the staff, property and facilities

Thanks for advising the reason, it is a shame that some people can’t respect others facilities. Still, they can pay £5 to get in, but at least it is controlled.
I would like a locked gate at the top of the walkway, not because I think there are lots of non boaters accessing, but just to improve security and deter the confident walk in thieve.

Thanks Gardenshed for the info.
I have heard that campervanners maintain websites with (non-public) facilities and latest door codes. Lochboisdale seemed to have that sort of thing going on last time I was there.
Many people in vans understand the need to be sensible, but too many (maybe hirers) think all's fair and freeloading is part of the fun. Same way they empty their cassette toilets in ditches. Landlubbing city dwellers with no respect for places they only visit temporarily.

This constant haranguing of city dwellers is a cheap attack based on prejudice rather than facts. The real reason that people dump their excrement is the inability of Scotland's councils and governments to provide facilities for tourists. There is no real infrastructure in place, yet massive spending on tourist campaigns for the likes of the National Parks, NC500, Kintyre66 through Visit Scotland. All contribute to the trashing of the likes of the Fairy Pools, Skye and dumping of waste outside recognised facilities.
The facilities to support tourism that do not rely on private facilities are woeful. Honest, hard working and enlighten country dwellers can't be trusted to provide communal facilities either as they do not always have the cash or intelligence to provide a service. There are exceptions, and the NC500 group try and provide facilities and offer guidance.
So, blame your council, local government and national government for their lack of foresight, planning and couldn't give a flip attitude to managing tourists.

I was given it by the Specialist Nurse.
It's on my car keys, green on one side with McMillan and on the other a printed message saying my cancer treatment causes me to need a pee - would it be OK to use your bog?
Ask your Nurse Donald - or I could send you mine

2nd consecutive PSA Test at 0.6 indicating that things remain under control, so fingers crossed that power, direction and timing are on the mend!
Thanks for the offer though....

Hardly constant haranguing - first time I've mentioned it at least. Couldn't the dumb dumpers just take their crap back home again? Why should the councils etc spend scarce cash on "tourists" who come in camper vans, bringing their own accommodation, food and cooking facilities and contribute nothing to the local economy other than dumping trash. And don't get me started on the cruise liner day trippers, wandering around and spending zero because they are on the all-inclusive package on-board.
It is people with "normal" lifestyles with no concept of how remote economies or communities function, with a "someone else should be doing this for my convenience" mentality. All take and no give works in cities with good communal facilities, the problem us when people take that expectation into remote areas that's the problem.
Which city do you dwell in?
