I think Jimi broke it last night posting a particularly demonic image of Longjohnsadler.

This could be Yacht Forum's big breakthrough. :)

- Do we want all that hassle?

I would like to see a user base of maybe 500 or so good-natured active sail cruising types on here plus the usual handful of noobs and wannabes who would find this a gentle introduction to the art.

More than that I don't know . . . but we have a way to go yet.

I enjoy Scuttlebutt, and some occasional forays into the Lounge, but get a bit fed up with the nastiness that occasionally pervades Lounge threads. Sadly, SimonCR, like Mirelle before him, has, earlier today, jacked it in for more or less the same reasons. I enjoyed their sailing threads - pity they're not on here.

Oh, and it's down again. Quite a long time on this occasion.

So what can we do?

Where do they go, disillusioned but worthy Scuttlebutters, and how can we entice them here?

Mirelle is on Cruising Anarchy as Methersgate 14 as well as a wooden boat forum I think. You could invite him over.

Nice boat.

Some have gone here http://smallboatclub.proboards98.com/in ... rd=pontoon

We have built it up slowly, often inviting people we admire to join. Some do, others prefer more "activity". Go forth & spread the WORD, for the word is the TRUTH.

I like BM just as it is..... i'm sure you'd like a bit more advertising revenue, but it is nice to occasionally escape to a forum that isn't full of vitriol and spittle!
