I eventually discovered the problem. Just because I was registered for blogging didn't mean that would do as registration for the forums.

It took me a while to spot this - I suppose the reference to "another server" should really have been a hint.
Blogging proceeds slowly: I'm now only 5 years behind, but getting there...

I've enjoyed all your blog entries so far. Excellent news therefore that there's 5 years' worth still to come. Can't wait to hear your take on the Chentlemens' Cruise!

And to you!
It's starting to look as if boat numbers may be up on last year even if

Can we stop all this rude talk please and might I respectfully point out that you will all remain in line astern until such time as you are commanded to go in somwhere that looks a bit tricky first.
Actually - the line astern bit will be easy for you given Claymore's speed advantage demonstrated so convincingly last year between Duart and Loch Aline.
Hah!

I suppose if you repeat a piece of wishful thinking often enough it becomes a kind of actuality. I'm currently reading The Strange Last Voyage of Donald Crowhurst. Some interesting parallels..
