I'm hoping for a return to the boat no earlier than Easter, but accepting the possibility of July. Just too much uncertainty to get hopes up then have them dashed.

On the upside, I'm working on potential alternatives that replicate the sailing experience. First up is filling the wheely bin with water and popping the outboard on. The frustration of pulling frantically for 20 mins then realising the fuel tap is off. Then a cloud of blue smoke and the buzzing of a demented wasp.

If we get a warm spell early on, I might inflate the out of date liferaft and use it as a paddling pool.

I’m off in the boat for a short trip the day after whatever day tomorrow is.(going flinging arrows around the woods tomorrow)

What day of the week it is has less and less relevance the longer this retirement lark goes on. Everyday feels like a Saturday.

(The short trip is to a pontoon in one or other local marinas for fitting of new sprayhood and cockpit tent followed by new Planar Heater installation. This will be followed by a longer test trip  )

Happy New Year to all. A very quiet new year at Maison Boots. IN keeping with the Christmas Eve Tradition of the central heating breaking down, it was repeated again on Hogmanay.

Or perhaps not this month....

I’m not sure that wood butchery on a boat while swearing would count as exercise in level 4 ?

'appy New Year chaps.

My look forward to boating event is taking the Tinker down to the Calder canal and having a row.

When the vaccine came about I thought we may have a slightly longer season this year, then I saw the proposed times scale. blimey.

Anyway, at least we are all young and low risk, slange.
