BlueMoment manuals downloads disabled

Post by Nick »

.
I transferred BlueMoment to a new server five days ago and was disturbed to discover this morning that there had been over 10GB of bandwidth used over that period. My previous server had unlimited bandwidth, this one doesn't, so I have to be a lot more careful.

Turns out 90% of it was apparently downloads of manuals. I presume various sites have linked directly to them.

Anyway, I have disabled the downloads from that page. Anyone who needs one of the manuals listed is welcome to contact me here or by email requesting it and I will email it to them.

Sorry for any inconvenience.

How useful have people found this facility, because I can probably set it up again so direct linking is impossible - eg a password protected page.

I've used the Perkins and Hydrovane manuals..

No way of knowing what will break next that I don't have a manual for!

I've seen that page referred to from a couple of places, but forget where. Was surprised to follow the link and get there.

I've used it from time to time mainly for Volvo engine books. But I tend to download and keep so "once is enough".

We must seem like ungrateful sods to you at times, Nick, but even though I personally haven't used the downloads page I do appreciate you keeping this forum and it's resources going for us. Cheers!

I have used some of the Volvo manuals, and others - like the GPS data translation program - look interesting, but are still on my "things to look at sometime" list.

The nice thing is knowing it's a resource that's available.

Sorry for the slow response but I've certainly used it. Incidentally I have a Yanmar workshop manual of about 400 page which Snowleopard kindly forwarded to me. I'll see if I can send it through.

I got this link to an old edition of Nigel Calder's book from TOP. It could be added to the manuals if you think it's near enough to legit.

I've added Telo's Yanmar workshop manual and password protexcted the manuals folder, so you will be asked for a user name and pasword now before downloading anything.

User name and password can be found in a Sticky in the Members section.

Derek, your link looks dodgy . . .

I thought so too but I downloaded it about 3 weeks ago. The sky is still in its rightful place for now.

Hi Nick, I'd particularly like to view the Plastimo Furling Manual if that is possible. I am trying to make sense of my older unit on boat just bought as i need to dismantle, repair.

Many thanks. Phil

Hope you find the information you need in the links here Phil but there is also a fair amount of knowledge amongst the members here so feel free to ask.
