I was just reading your blog crossing from Tenerife to Gran Canaria.
There are some weather portals with maps, but I never found one with a history. That might give me a relation between your findings in the venturi zone between the islands and the general weather conditions.
Do you know of such a weather history?
Thanks, Peter
Weather history

Never found a site with weather history like that.
On this subject, I have been discussing Atlantic weather and the existing pilot charts, which are based on many years or decades of data but none of it very recent.
If as most cruisers suspect there has been a shift or increasing unreliability in the traditional weather patterns then it might be time for a new set of pilot charts based on reports from criusers' logbooks from the last (say) twenty-five years.
I intend to start this project sometime soon - I will create a simple online proforma for people to fill in online with date. lat/long and wind speed and direction from their logbooks. The difficulty will be finding some easy way of compiling it if there is a big enough response - anyone got any suggestions?

My idea was to find a database of the gif maps from the past.
Or even more comfortable, a history video, like the forecast videos.
So I might get a feeling how fast a weather front is passing by.
Thanks, Peter

There is a site, German IIRC, which archives synoptic charts. I used to have the link but...
An enquiry in
the other place might elicit the information.
Found it
