Re: Bulk Purchasing and Buying Power
I re-piled the chain on another pallet, but put the rusty parts at the bottom to preserve dignity

You still planning on coming over this way this week?
Re: Bulk Purchasing and Buying Power
Yes Nick, going to be a flying visit to check her over though, Thursday afternoon to Friday morning, so sadly won't have time to get to Oban.Nick wrote: You still planning on coming over this way this week?
Could you get it up to Creran? I'll be heading off (North) around 10:00 on Friday.
Will PM you my mobile no.

Chain is now in the boot of my car in a plastic box. I will run it up to Creran tomorrow - what time do you think you will be there?SteveN wrote:Yes Nick, going to be a flying visit to check her over though, Thursday afternoon to Friday morning, so sadly won't have time to get to Oban.Nick wrote: You still planning on coming over this way this week?

OK, no worries. I'll aim to be there around 1.30 if that is OK

See you then. That'll be 2 more lengths of chain arriving Friday afternoon at Cumbernauld, Geoff.Nick wrote:SteveN wrote: OK, no worries. I'll aim to be there around 1.30 if that is OK

You'll see the pile accumulating there when you drop off. I'll be at the dentist then!

Re: Bulk Purchasing and Buying Power
Got my chain off the boat yesterday and will be dropping it off in Elgin on Monday.
Could I chuck my Avon outboard bracket in too, by the way? Will strip the remaining paint off it first and remove the wooden board, obviously.

Re: Bulk Purchasing and Buying Power
That's Orla's chain dropped off, what a great place, Dougie & another big dude with a forklift were very helpful, pallet supplied and chain tagged.
I did notice six steel guitars sitting in the shed waiting for a coating of some sort, would love to know who makes them, they looked like two Les Pauls, two Strats and two accoustic's.
Would be interested in getting a Les Paul of the guy, be a great piece of art to have.
Cheers

Dougie,
Good that Dougie was helpful (must be the name eh?), and Tam was probably the other one.
I'll find out who makes the guitars. I didn't see them, but didn't get into the factory for a couple of days.
Mavanier,
Yes, put the bracket with it. If you're thinking to strip paint by grinding, it almost never works well enough, but liquid stripper works OK. If it looks like too much work, then leave it and I'll get it sorted - there are other ways when urgency of order is not the case. We degrease everything for a few minutes in hot caustic soda. But an item left in there for a day or so strips many paints off. Its not normally cost effective, but being Christmas and all...

Re: Bulk Purchasing and Buying Power
Thanks Geoff, but actually when I dug out the Avon bracket I realised it's held together by the paint, so is beyond help without welding. A job for another time, then.
