Coming from a colonial, that's rich!

We Colonials have some rich sayings, but I have to admit that Scots has words that sound like the thing they describe. (Onamatapoea?) such as dreich! That's about what it is here today, and makes me wish to be somewhere wet, sailing.

After much soul searching I have decided to send BT packing and am now looking at alternative service providers.
Any recommendations?

We changed to Scottish Hydro/SSE recently and it's been fine. Our primary reason for selecting them was that they were a BT/Openworld reseller i.e. you get the benefits of the BT network without ever having to deal with the ar$eholes themselves. UK call centre, although we've not yet needed it.

If it was at all possible I'd bin land line providers in an instant, especially B ferkin T.

Having worked off 4g a lot over the past 3/4 of a year with no land line I think I'd easily manage with home use...

We have used Plusnet for a few years with little hassle after a nightmare with Talktalk. Don't know about their fibre service; we get 20+ somethings but we are only 50 yards from the exchange.

I hate saying this but BT just sent me an email "as a loyal customer (fek you jimmy)" bearing free gifts; 500gb on BT cloud yuk, anti-virus from McAfee which just puts me right for plucking by them, faster repairs to the phone line excluding fibre which I know you'll be disappointed about, and more thrilling BT sport.

Now, I recorded the AC cup races off BT sport so they can do no wrong. It's all yer fault. You're not speaking to them nicely and have hurt their feelers.

I live in a village where broadband is not available, confirmed twice by Openreach engineer who is fed up with getting sent to test reception in an area with none.
To get any internet access, I use a mobile phone dongle, which is better than 56k, but not a lot better!

But I still get frequent BT adverts saying how I can get superspeed broadband just by signing up!

I got a recent one saying they would upgrade my existing broadband!

BT sport is mainly aboot soccer with which I have absolutely nae fekking interest. Despite you bombarding me with strange images and emails, the AC s leaving me a bit cold.

I decided to start taking the Sunday Times a few weeks ago - I dropped it about 10 years ago because I did't feel part of the target audience - not having a villa in sunny climes or a £5m pension pot, nor does Karl Lagerfeld do much for my sense of being well presented. Anyway its still a pretentious load of shyte so I've returned to the Observer.
One of the things that irks aboot the Sunday Times - and there are many, is that its become a thinly disguised bit of marketing for all things SKY. I wonder why?

Surely the Laird would want to be better informed by the Big Issue?
