Och .. plastic chain .. yer a genius, the CCC Health & Safety award coming up? We'll get Mandy tae dae the honours.

Saves him from antifouling the chain and if its a really pyschedelic colour everybody wull think he's oan something and gie him a wide berth ...
Plastic doesn't need antifouling? I wish someone would tell that to the bottom of my boat, and to the local sea life population.

Aye and at the very same garden centre , the auld goat can purchase a wee [sic] dwarf with a fishing rod and place it on the poop deck when not in residence. This will convince any would be scroat that the laird is in residence and discourage petty larceny aboard his fine vessel.

Yellow and Orange respectively and indeed they will have Claymore on them. I feel inclined to put a wee message on to discourage itinerant opportunists. Do you have words that might be apt?

Adopt the local practice? This would be a fine addition atop the hippo thingamajimmy.

Replacing the 'thank you' with your suggestion would save the locals and ... erm ... some vistors doing the same ...

I feel compelled to highlight a text error in the above. The word ANY was missed (see the asterisks)
Re the mooring strop, Sahona is still in 'hostpital' next to a big southerly that broke free in Oban (at the same time as Drum hit the headlines). The owner recons the nylon rope melted in the protective plastic tube, just where it went through the fairleads...
Maybe need to look for some high melting point hemp 16-plait?

I had a similar issue during the same storm. It was my plastic tube which melted initially though I suspect that the nylon octoplait wouldn't have lasted much longer if I hadn't noticed it.

Chafe I can understand, but MELTING? Were they using chocolate strands for the strop? How fast does the strop have to move to melt a rope? Seems unlikely to me, especially in your wet climate.
