Interesting that it's vertically polarised (or polarised at all) I always look for what's on the roofs of buildings round the anchorage before bothering to do a digital scan(no AEs, just dishes, not worth it!) - most of the time the aerials are set horizontally.
Can you try before you buy or at least make sure there is a valid returns procedure.
