I ordered these 3

3) Joshua Slocum - "Sailing Alone Around the World" - (First RTW and wonderfully written)
5) "A World of My Own" Robin Knox-Johnston
8) "Magic of the Swatchways" Maurice Griffiths

because I recognised the authors names, I took the scientific approach!

The elf (Erica) has wrapped them up and put them under the tree so I found Sod's Law of the Sea by Bill Lucas and Andrew Spedding to keep me going till Santas been.

This feels like a personal attack. So much for the Christmas spirit.
My nasal and aural hair are sacrosanct, second only to eyebrows -(forget anything above them)
Don't you dare point that machine at me madam. Is it electric ~does it do tricks? put it away.
You girlies should learn to love the little extra bits that we grow, just the same as we do for you~and, we don't
talk about machines for removing your questionable bits, do we...

PS Santa - no socks please, we're British.

I was thinking more about that chap in the after shave adverts on the wooden boat - he keeps messing with his rigging.

The one with the waxed chest and oiled muscular torso.... (swoon).

Just lie back and think of Brutain's Hardy Sons.....

Uffa Fox's semi-biographical books are an interesting read. He was a very self-assured character and they were very different times, but they do put our current fears of everything around us in perspective. If he needed anything, he would make it.

Determined to ensure that Webcraft Inc rises to new greatness in the cut-throat world of cybershopping, I've bought all my presents through Amazon. However it nearly caused me some trouble.

One of my granddaughters wanted some girls' books that parody Ian Fleming's James Bond. Regrettably, the name her mother gave me was Jane Bond, and I was about to order a couple when I noticed something odd about the message telling me that "customers who bought this book also bought" this;

The requested books were, I hope, about Jane Blonde, superspy.

This could become an unexpected best seller. Remember folks, you saw it here first!

Pic above is now a clickable link - snap it up, it's bound to become a classic.

Apparently people who bought the above also purchased the book below, co-athored by the incredibly talented Miss Nolan. Sadly it is temporarily unavailable, but you might want to reserve a copy:

5.0 out of 5 stars A rip roaring romp!, 2 Feb 2004

By V. Myers "Vickym" (UK) - See all my reviews
I found this book to be not only hilarious in its dry humour but also strangely sensual and alluring. As a 56 year old nun I have had many of the burning desires for the sweet scent of a pair of womens knicker repressed. My friend Father O'Flahrety also found it to be compelling and could not put it down. We haven't seen him or my well used copy of the book since, nor Sisters Assumpta and Agatha. )

Well I have read "Magic of the Swatchways" and I can't decide about the East Coast Rivers. There seems to be lots of drifting up rivers on the tide at night with hardly any way on, which I can cope with, glorious sunsets under big skies, again Ok.

Mucking about bouncing over sandbanks in short steep breaking seas knowing the boat will get pounded to matchwood in seconds if it runs out of water altogether doesn't sound to be much fun.

Then there is that 4 week old fourty footer that lost it's keel over christmas.

I take it that someone who likes to play it reasonably safe can sail round there and get from one river to another without too big an adrenalin rush.

I'm confused. Did Monica Nola also write The Magic of the Swatchways ? Can someone do a diagram for me of where the swatchways are....above or below the waist/

Swatch(v)(Scots)(sl) - To have a look at

Usage:

"Geeza a swatch at yer ...", usually followed by a reference to certain female genitalia

In the light of this I would say that the swatchways were below the waist . . .
